Scraps
Scraps is a smart recipe app designed to help users cut down on food waste and make the most of ingredients they already have.
By analysing the items in the user’s fridge, Scraps provides quick, innovative recipes tailored to what’s on hand, eliminating the guesswork of meal prep and aScraps makes it easy to cook creatively, use up perishables, and reduce waste—all while saving time and money.

The Problem
1. Overbuying and Wasting Food
There is a constant struggle with many people who are new to cooking overbuying food, and ending up with food waste. They don’t have a clear understanding of how much food they should be buying and what exact ingredients they are able to buy for optimal cooking.
2. Don’t Know What to Cook
People who are new to cooking do not have a lot of recipes in their personal cookbooks due to the lack of experience so ultimately they run out of things to cook.
3. Cooking Takes Too Long
People who don’t have lots of experience with cooking cannot gauge how much time or effort certain recipes would take; therefore, their cooking becomes very inefficient and time-consuming.

The design system of Scraps revolves around a colour palette of orange to emphasise freshness, warmth, and the natural relationship between food and sustainability. This palette is carefully selected to reflect the app’s core mission: helping users reduce food waste by creatively using the ingredients they have.
Final Product and Future Roadmap
Together, we are currently creating a solution that empowers users to cook sustainably and reduce food waste. Our team is striving to blend thoughtful design with intuitive functionality, using a warm, organic colour palette and streamlined UX.
